The Shower Belt with Leg Straps is a restraint that prevents residents from sliding or falling off a chair. It has two leg straps, making it a safe option. This belt is recommended for people who may harm themselves if they try to walk and forget they cannot do so.
The belt allows residents to move their legs freely and twist around, but it helps prevent them from sliding or standing up.
To Fit
To fit the belt, place it around the chair and buckle it behind the resident. Position the two leg straps under the legs and buckle them up. When fitting the leg straps, pass them between the legs and up the outside of the leg.
Any excess lap belt can be wrapped around the chair frame to help position it at the pelvic position.
You can wipe the Belt dry between uses for different residents, making it a hygienic option.
Always monitor residents wearing any safety item. If the belt or leg straps appear to be causing discomfort, re-position the resident to relieve pressure.

for use in a private home
, we require authorisation from a suitable person. This is to ensure it will be used correctly and safely by the family and/or carers, and that using it will not be dangerous. Examples of a suitable person who is able to sign the letter are: Occupational Therapist; Physiotherapist; Clinical Nurse Manager; Registered Nurse; Doctor; or another suitably qualified person. Please return a copy to us when ordering.
Note:
This letter is not required when we send restraints to aged care facilities or hospitals, because their staff are already trained in their safe use.
