KIS Alginate Rope is a calcium-alginate dressing that forms a soft, integral gel when it comes into contact with wound exudate. Excess wound exudate is absorbed in this process. Algisite M utilises the proven benefits of moist wound healing, which results in faster healing of even difficult wounds.
When applied to a wound there will be an ion exchange between the calcium in the dressing and sodium from the exudate, forming a soluble calcium/sodium alginate gel. The free calcium ions in the wound will amplify the clotting cascade and can reduce bleeding.
The interaction with the wound exudates will create a protective gel that is nonadherent and creates a moist wound healing environment.
The flexible and gentle soft fibre rope is ideal for the use of cavity wound packing. It is capable of absorbing 10-20 times its weight and maintaining a moist wound healing environment.

Tips for using:
- Clean the wound with sterile water or saline solution.
- Choose the right size of dressing according to wound area.
- Cut out dressing to size using sterile scissors.
- A secondary dressing is necessary when using calcium alginates.
- Before removing this product during a dressing change, dampen dressing with sterile water or saline solution to lower the risk of damaging the surrounding skin
