It bridges the small gap of about 15cm (6″) between the bed to trolley.
The Board has hand slots cut into the plastic to help when carrying the Board. The hand slots should not be used for actually transferring or moving a patient.
This product is translucent.
Note: As this is considered an over-sized item, customers from outside of Australia should
contact
us before placing an order so that we can provide an accurate shipping cost.
Safe Working Load (SWL)
Click
here
for information relating to Safe Working Loads and plastic versus wooden slide boards.
To Use
Gently roll the patient onto their side using a draw sheet. Then, place a Slide Board underneath the draw sheet and patient. Ensure the Board extends from under the patient’s head down to under their thighs.
Position the trolley next to the bed and apply brakes to both the bed and the trolley. Check that the trolley is not higher than the bed, and adjust it if necessary. Before pulling the patient across, move the trolley mattress over the gap between the bed and trolley to make the transfer easier and prevent any sudden jerks or bumps.
Drape the draw sheet across the trolley and have one or more nurses pull the sheet with the patient across to the trolley. Hold the sheet aligned to the patient’s hips and shoulder, and if needed, have a nurse guide the patient’s feet while another guides the head.
Once the patient is on the trolley, gently roll them on their side again to remove the Slide Board. If needed, use a large sheet that reaches the far side of the trolley to avoid leaning forward and pulling, allowing the nurses to use their own body weight to pull the sheet across.
By following these steps, you can ensure a safe and comfortable transfer for the patient.
