Saebo's at-home and therapy products for hand function training.
Grasp & Release.Purposeful & Meaningful Activities.
The SaeboFlex allow individuals suffering from neurological impairments, such as stroke, the ability to incorporate their arm and hand functionally in therapy and at home. These unique orthoses position the wrist and fingers into extension in preparation for object manipulation. The user is able to grasp objects by voluntarily flexing his or her fingers. Once the fingers relax (stop gripping), the extension spring system assists in re-opening the hand to release the object.

Spasticity Unmasked.Thoughtfully Designed. Clinically Appreciated
TheSaeboFlexis a high profile, out-rigger style splint made from durable rigid parts used to support and assist individuals with increased tone.TheSaeboFlexis based on the latest advances in neurorehabilitation research documenting the brain’s ability to “re-program” itself through mass practice, task-oriented arm training.
What is Spasticity?
Spasticity is a neuromuscular condition usually caused by damage to the portion of the brain or spinal cord that controls voluntary movement. The damage causes a change in the balance of signals between the nervous system and the muscles. It is typically found in people with cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injury.

Saebo Research. Can You Improve?
Task-specific training improves upper extremity function in individuals suffering from neurological injuries. However, treatment options are limited for neurological clients who cannot effectively incorporate their hand for functional grasp and release/prehension activities.
The vast majority of stroke survivors, head injury and incomplete spinal cord Injury patients do not exhibit sufficient active wrist and/or finger extension to allow the hand to be functional. The Saebo Flex has the biomechanical advantage in allowing prehension grasp and release activities for individuals with moderate to severe hemiparesis.

"Charley Horse" is an Understatement
Spasticity is often described as tight, stiff muscles or spasms that may make movement, posture, and balance difficult It negatively affects muscles and joints of the extremities, and is particularly harmful to growing children. Individuals with mild spasticity may experience muscle tightness whereas severe spasticity may produce painful, uncontrollable spasms of the extremities; most commonly the legs and arms. This can interfere with functional recovery and curtail rehabilitation efforts.

Struggling with Grasping?Check out this great tip!
In2001...Two occupational therapistshad one simple, but powerful goal - to provide neurological clients access to transformative and life changing products.
At the time, treatment options for improving arm and hand function were limited. The technology that did exist was expensive and inaccessible for home use. With inadequate therapy options often leading to unfavourable outcomes, health professionals routinely told their clients that they have "reached a plateau" or "no further gains can be made". The founders believed that it was not the clients who had plateaued, but rather their treatment options had plateaued.
Saebo's commitment- "No Plateau in Sight" - was inspired by this mentality; and the accessible, revolutionary solutions began.
Saebo's revolutionary product offeringwas based on the latest advances in rehabilitation research. From the SaeboFlex which allows clients to incorporate their hand functionally in therapy or at home, to the SaeboMAS, an unweighting device used to assist the arm during daily living tasks and exercise training, "innovation" and "affordability" can now be used in the same sentence.
Over the last ten years, Saebo has grown into a leading global provider of rehabilitative products created through the unrelenting leadership and the strong network of clinicians around the world. As we celebrate our history and helping more than 100,000 clients regain function, we are growing this commitment to affordability and accessibility even further by making our newest, most innovative products more accessible than ever.
